The end is near

Even though it is still hotter than hell and the mosquitos are eating me alive, I still feel like summer is nearing the end. Our summer vacation is over and tomorrow school starts again, which is a blessing and a pain in the ass at the same time. I have been keeping busy with projects that I have been wanting to get done for a while and finally have the energy and time to do them. One of the things I have been wanting to do is to maximize the space in the laundry room because I get sick of folding laundry on the ironing board; plus, I have a boatload of shoes that have no where to go.

The color looks like Miss Piggy and Kermit had a love child, but I wanted something bright because there is no natural light in the basement.  I am going to get more purple laundry baskets so everything matches because I'm weird like that. I still need to add some homey touches, like a picture or  poster on the wall where all the green is.

A couple of years ago Christopher lugged home a little cupboard that we put on the front stoop; we didn't know where else to put it. (This was when Christopher didn't think I was a hoarder and still brought home little presents.)
When I got it, it was covered in an off-white paint that was chipped everywhere and just looked really nasty, so after all the paint was off and it was sanded, it stood like that for about 6 months because I just didn't feel like standing in the cold to paint it.
I have always liked red and would really love to have a red front door someday, so I decided to paint this thing bright red.
I even ordered little white porcelain knobs with red hearts on them but they haven't gotten here yet. I can't wait to decorate for Christmas because I think this little red cupboard will make it just perfect.
I have a few other things to get done before it gets too cold out so I will be busy.
