Apple Water

So, even though I haven't posted in two weeks that doesn't mean that I sat around and did nothing.  I actually did quite a few things but since my instagram feed doesn't show up on my blog anymore, you can't really tell.
One of the things that I have been working on is watching what I eat and as far as I can tell, drinking enough water is the key.  But guess what -- I don't like water unless I totally wake up in the middle of the night parched from the pepperoni pizza I ate for dinner.
I searched Pinterest, of course, for ways to make water appealing and I came across a recipe that looked great and is supposed to be metabolism boosting.  Can I get a "hell yeah?!"
I had everything at home so I made it right away and got all excited about drinking my delicious water that was gonna melt the fat of my gut and give me perfect skin and make me rich.... I know, not true....

So here you go

This recipe had a ton of great reviews but after letting it marinate all damn night it still tasted like something the fish f*** in.
I did not care for it at all and even my kids who have pressed out tangerines and made tea out of it didn't like it. The apples left no taste and the cinnamon stick made it taste off.
I will not make it again but I am still on the quest to find a water I can tolerate and that will make my gut disapear.

Butterflies and little girls

As every normal human being knows, New Year's resolutions are here to break and make you feel ilke a total failure....and that is as it should be!  What the hell else would we bitch about when everything else is great? This year I did not make resolutions that I knew I would break; I made goals that I wanted to meet and projects that I wanted  make. So far I have gotten more done this month than I did in the last 3 months, so I feel good about my progress. One of the things that I wanted to do was make Mia's room a little friendlier because I am all about keeping it simple. My mind is so chaotic that it doesn't take much to make me nervous when there is a lot of stuff sitting around that needs to be dusted. I tend to not have anything out. The pictures in the bathroom are the only ones of the family in the whole house; this year I want to change that, and I started with Mia Monster.

I ordered a wooden frame that she could hang her little jackets on and a mirror she can lick because Mia is the resident licker and biter in the family.  90% of the time, when we think she wants to give us a kiss, she ends up biting us and with 8 teeth it's not funny anymore. But enough of Mia--here is what I did:
First I sanded everything then I painted it a light pink and decopaged it with napkins.
Wow, that was easy!

Judging by the lighting, I think you can tell I do everything at night.

I love butterflies, can you tell? I looked around until I found this really cute light that looks like a picture and has butterflies all over it.  When it got here, I hated the light, I just can't get used to the cold LED lights that are supposed to be so damn good for the environment. It just isn't cozy.

 See what I mean?
So, I painted over the little lights with nail polish and now it is better....but not great.

Painting over the lights is no problem as LED does not get hot like regular lights.

Breakdown of the cost:

  • Picture: 40 Euro
  • Mirror: 4,95
  • Coat rack : 3,95
  • Paint: 2,95
  • Nailpolish: free
  • Napkins: 2,20
I am not done but I am getting there.  I just takes time to find the perfect little things that I won't mind dusting.

Bathroom Glam

It is a new year and I am all motivated and it has been a whole week!!!
I decided to start small and paint the bathroom, which is more like a toilet room because you can't even turn around in there. It's so small. So, it was perfect for a small project that only took a couple of hours and about 20 euros.
I have been wanting to paint something dark and because the white tile goes so far up the wall, I thought it would work without turning it in to a cave.

As you can see, it is so small you have to go outside to change your mind.(Cheap joke, I know.)
I still want to paint the grout because it looks dirty but that will have to wait till after I finish my other projects.

Still really small but not so boring......

I know you will enjoy looking at my family while you poop; that's why I hung those there.

My fake little plant that looks so cute in the corner.
I had to paint the walls twice because dark paint usually does not cover the first time; it didn't take long at all, and I love the results.

2013 is my year!!!!!

So, this year everything will be better. I will have my shit together, my house will be clean, I will never leave the house without my hair or makeup done......
At least till next week when it all goes to hell again and I forget how determined I was to be efficient.
But today I am doing well, so I thought I would share how I spent my morning. Of course, it helps that I don't drink so I don't have a hangover.  I also didn't go outside to see the  fireworks, so I donn't have a headache either.
I didn't see the fireworks because I was anxious about Mia waking up and being scared from all the noise; instead, I stayed hovered over her bed for the first 20 minutes.
Then I got bored and mopped the stairs with a dish towel I found on the floor.  Happy New Year, sucka!!
So I present to you my labor of Love.

I think the pictures speak for themselves and I don't need to add an "EEEWWW!!!"

But now, "AAAHHH!!!"

Why, yes, I did do this all by myself. And, yes, I did notice that my pictures don't match.
It looks so good and I feel so accomplished that I can completely ignore that it is 5:30 p.m. and I haven't brushed my teeth yet.
But the basement is clean, so screw it.
