DIY Fail

Glitter in the morning...glitter in the evening...glitter at supper time.......I love glitter...!
Glitter makes everything better and prettier no matter what it is. Yes, it is kitschy but who cares?
Of course, if you don't use 10 pounds of glue you will have glitter everywhere in the house and usually stuck somewhere on your face......probably up your nose, too because you picked it while crafting. (Not me, I'm just saying.)

If I haven't mentioned it, I love glitter so when I come across a recipe that claims I can make my own glitter with little to no fuss, I jump on it.
I found the recipe on Pinterest (where else) and decided to try it.

Well it didn't wasn't a total disaster but it did not look like glitter.

Recipe (This is what they say)
Interesting!...Make Your Own Glitter out of Tin Foil! Need: * Baking Pan * Tin Foil * 1/4 cup of salt * 1/2 teaspoon of food coloring * Preheat an oven to 350 degrees. Directions: * Mix 1/4 cup of salt with a 1/2 teaspoon of food coloring in a small bowl until the salt is uniformly colored. * Spread the mixture out in an even layer on a foil-lined baking sheet. * Bake in the oven for ten minutes. Allow your homemade glitter to cool before using it. NOTE: * You may also store it in an air tight container for several months. * This glitter can be used for almost any type of project and may even be mixed with glue for special crafts.

This is what I did.

So, I did what it said and the outcome was blue salt -- not glitter or anything close to glitter. I threw it out because I have no need for blue salt.
But it was worth a try.
I guess if you wanted to make a vase or a candle holder with colored rocks or salt in it, this is the way to go.

Thank you for sharing your results. I was ecstatic when I saw the directions on Pinterest, but a little dubious... You have now saved me from spending the time to try it myself. Darn. I was hoping it would make that cool flake glitter...
Like you, I love glitter.
I once put glitter glue in my eyes, in the middle of the night because the bottle was the same shape as my eye drops bottle. :D
