Snow Day

Nothing big today but I thought I would share some pictures of our wonderful snow that we are having today. It has been snowing all day and I love it.

I love it when it snows as long as I don't have to drive in it.
Let it snow ...Let it snow...let it snow

Tree Trimming Tutorial

I thought I would share my tree trimming expertise with you so you can see how crazy I am and how long it takes me to decorate my fricken tree. I always love how it turns out but it takes me about 5 hours to do it and 700 lights. So to get me in the right mood my main squeeze made me Irish coffee and put some Christmas muzak on and I was ready to go.
 The Naked Tree
 The Branches are on.( duh)
Add the Mylar foil in the middle of the tree covering up the wires and the branches that don't have a lot of green
Cut the foil in strips and crinkle it so that it will lay better in the tree
Add the lights of course working from the top on down. I use about 700 lights.
After the lights and foil I start with the ornaments that are used as fillers. They are plastic because they do not break and I drop them a lot. The most important thing when trimming the tree is to use the filler ornaments on the outside and the inside. If you just hang them on the inside then you will have a dark tree no matter how many lights you put on. You have to stand back from your tree and look at it and see where your holes are.

Add some Ornaments that are old and dear to you even if they don't match but you love them so they belong there.
Now put everything else on it that you want. I stay with the same colors because if you don't it will look like a crazy mess and I like it to have a theme.
The fat mermaid that makes me laugh every time I see it.
Glitter Slippers I bought last year at Michaels.
The one and only name ornament we have (thanks Oma Beloli)
The finished project. Lot's of work but very nice indeed.
I also made a wreath for the door that is very kitschy but fabulous.
Today was the first Advent so we lit the first candle on our advent arrangement.

Rockin the Christmas Market

So just to let you know I am having a hell of a time getting into the Christmas spirit. But today after I helped my mom set up the her stand at the Christmas Market I am slowly but surely sort of trying to get into the Holly Jolly Season.

This morning was colder then a well diggers arse and on top of it all it started snowing so it made a very cold but cheerful start of the decorating process. I was late getting there so rolfie had to get the tent set up with mom and I guess it was a pain but he did a good job and it stood proudly in the row of other tents.

We decided to put Velvet on the side walls to give it some color and to keep the cold out a little bit.

After we got the Fabric hung we started to get the Pine garlands hanging with the lights. We put some carpet down to keep the feet warm when you are standing around for hours selling the gems. We used red & champagne colored velvet for the tablecloths that looked awesome.

The decorating took about 2 hours and I think it turned out perfect and a little kitschy which what I was aiming for, cue in the Christmas music on the ipod and we are ready to go.

I will let you know how it went.
Till then Ta Ta

First Showing

Today was the first showing of our models for the fashion show and it was nerve wracking. We had to stand in front of 3 teachers and show them what we had done. We were graded on how we had turned the drawing into real life clothes. We had drawn it a couple of months ago and almost everybody changed something along the way because it is hard to draw something without knowing if you will even be able to get that fabric or if it will even look good on you. We were graded on how it fit and how our pattern and sewing is.  I was really nervous because I didn't know how strict they were going to be. It didn't help that the Big Kahuna of the school didn't show up because she was sick but it sure made it more relaxed because as I have heard she is really nasty when she doesn't like something. I have seen her scream at somebody and run to every classroom and show the other students what this guy did. She can be really mean.
So the morning started out that most people came in after sewing for three days straight some with little to no sleep. We were supposed to show City Safari and Secret Agent but we ended up only showing City Safari because Kahuna was sick.

Getting ready....
We were about 25 people getting ready so that rack got a lot fuller.
We had to have our hair done and all the accessories had to match and better yet be made to match your outfit. I got up extra early wash and blow-dry my hair so it would look good.
After we all got ready we took pictures.  As you can see we all had different ideas how to interpret City Safari, it was supposed to be a casual look in browns and greens that is ok for the office and to go out at night, hence Kira's shoes that are awesome and mine. (Gladiator)
Kira as always helped me so much I wouldn't have been able to finish so this is a shout out to Kira.
I was in the third group to go in and it went really well I was so glad.
My outfit consisted out of a Skirt with ruffles at the bottom and a jacket with short sleeves and a shirt that was cinched in the waist with a belt.
My teachers liked it the only thing that they said that I should do is add a little chain to the front of my jacket so that it stays more fitted so I will do that.

After we were done we went and had breakfast with Mimosas to treat ourselves after a job well done.
And here to end this wonderful journey into the fashion madness for today here is a little collage of working like dogs in a sweatshop.

Keeping Busy

I don't know what it is but this time of year when it gets dark early and rains a lot then I get so sluggish and just want to sleep. I don't know if that is SAD or if I was a Bear in my past life and my Body wants to hibernate. All I know is that it takes lots of energy to get me moving.
School is really a drag right now because this is my last semester and I want to be done already. I am totally behind in my models but I am not the only one so that makes me feel a little better. I know that it shouldn'take me feel better because it doesn't really matter but it there!

I have been making ornaments with the kids and I even refashioned a sweater that I had with a tutorial from Ruffles & Stuff which turned out really cute.
This what I started out with an old V-Neck sweater from H&M that I didn't wear anymore. I bought the fabric at a thrift store for 2 Euros.

I cut it right down the middle of it without measuring because I am crazy. It worked out but don't try this at home.
I think it turned out pretty cute and I will definitely be making another one soon.
The other thing that I have been making are cupcake ornaments for my Christmas Tree themed" Sweets".
I found the tutorial at the beginning of the year and had to wait till now to make them.  This is the site that showed me how to make these adorable cupcakes The Cupcakes Club  and thanks to Oma Beloli I was able to make them.
I will be posting a Tree trimming tutorial as soon as I decorate my tree and then I can post pictures how they look hanging with the rest of the sweets.

I finally received some pictures from the Wedding that I did in July and I want to share them with you so you can see my work.

The wedding was outside in front of the Chapel and it was HOT but nobody passed out thank goodness.

Bridal Centerpiece

Wedding Cake

I had taken my Heels off while I was running around getting things taken care of so it looks like I am really short in this picture.

As a surprise for the couple we had rehearsed the music together and we had a complete band outside and sang several songs that they were not expecting.
As soon as I get pictures of the Bridal Bouquet I will post it.
